Installing VeloWatt Pro
On Windows you will probably be warned before VeloWatt Pro first starts. That is expected, and each warning below has a way through. On a Mac it opens like any app from the internet.

Before you download: will your computer run it?
It draws a whole world in 3D, so the graphics matter more than anything else. Check these before you download: the trial is the place to find out how it rides on your machine, not whether it starts.
- Operating system: macOS 11 or newer, Apple silicon or Intel; Windows 10 or newer, 64-bit.
- Processor: Two cores and four threads, 64-bit: an Intel Core i3 or AMD Ryzen 3 from about 2018 on, or any Apple silicon Mac.
- Memory: 8 GB.
- Graphics: On Windows, graphics with Vulkan or DirectX 12 from about 2018 on: Intel UHD 620, Iris Xe, AMD Radeon Vega 8 or newer, or a dedicated card from 2016 on. Intel HD 4000 and other older chips cannot draw it. On a Mac, any Apple silicon Mac, or an Intel Mac from 2018 on. At the bottom of this range it rides at the Low graphics setting.
- Storage: 1 GB free.
Not sure what is in your computer?
Windows: Settings → System → About shows the processor and the memory. For the graphics, open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc), choose Performance, and read the name under GPU.
Mac: Apple menu → About This Mac shows the chip or processor, the memory and the year.
On Windows: what to expect
The installer is signed by VeloWatt UG (haftungsbeschränkt). Windows and Microsoft Edge still warn about a program they have not yet seen on many computers, and a new version of VeloWatt Pro starts out unseen every time. The warnings fade as more people install it.
You may meet two of them, in this order: Edge holding the download back, and then Windows’ blue “Windows protected your PC” screen. In both, the publisher’s name is how you know the file is ours.
The download ends in .crdownload, or says “Unconfirmed”
Edge keeps a download it has doubts about under a temporary name until you say yes, and a file Windows cannot open is left in your Downloads folder meanwhile. To let it through:
- Press Ctrl+J to open Edge’s downloads.
- On VeloWatt Pro, choose ⋯ and then Keep.
- Choose Show more, and then Keep anyway.
- The file is now the installer, ending in Setup.exe. Open it.
Do not rename it yourself
Renaming the .crdownload file to .exe can give you half a download, and the installer then fails with an error that says nothing useful. If the download was only interrupted rather than held back, delete the .crdownload file and download again.
“Windows protected your PC”
This is the blue screen, and it has no Run button until you ask for one:
- Choose More info.
- Check that Publisher reads VeloWatt UG (haftungsbeschränkt).
- Choose Run anyway.
If the publisher is anything else
If it says “Unknown publisher”, or any name but VeloWatt UG (haftungsbeschränkt), do not run it. Delete the file and download VeloWatt Pro again from https://ridevelowatt.com, and tell us at support@ridevelowatt.com where the other one came from.
Smart App Control or an antivirus stops the installer
Smart App Control is on some new Windows 11 computers. It has no Run anyway button, but it lets through a program with a valid signature, which ours has, so you should not see it. Some antivirus programs are stricter and quarantine an installer they have not seen before.
If either blocks the installer, write to support@ridevelowatt.com with the exact message, or a screenshot of it, and we will help. Please do not turn Smart App Control off to get past it: once off, it can only be turned on again by reinstalling Windows.
On macOS
VeloWatt Pro is notarised by Apple, so a Mac opens it without a fuss:
- Open the downloaded .dmg file, and drag VeloWatt Pro onto the Applications folder beside it.
- Open VeloWatt Pro from Applications.
- The first time, macOS asks whether you are sure you want to open an app downloaded from the internet. Choose Open.
Still stuck?
Write to support@ridevelowatt.com. Say which version of Windows or macOS you are on, which browser you downloaded with, and what the screen said, word for word or as a screenshot. A person reads it.
